In the beginning... (part deux)

Visitor's Business Adult!

I figured I'd share with everyone my story of getting into the collection business a bit more. I was a lurker on 4chan's /u/ for a while. One day, a manga from Kurogane Ken appeared, untranslated. I had previously seen /u/ translate the KonaKaga piece Cicada Drizzle, and thought this time around: I'll help out! I had no experience with editting images and had very limitted knowledge of the Japanese language: not much more than being able to read the pronunciation of hiragana.

My saving grace that day was the translator, Kaminos, who was quite bad at English — and to my knowledge, neither English nor Japanese were Kaminos' first language, which impresses me greatly. Thus, the position opened up for 'proofreader' to step in and make the translations coherant. Had it not been for that twist of fate, I would most likely not have started on the route to where I am now. If you ever feel the need to thank me, give a bit of thanks to Kaminos as well. And don't forget the great editor we had: AnonE.

There's a txt file stored in the link which only has a few changes that could be made to improve flow and such. I started to feel ashamed of the quality in some areas (though give me credit, it was my first time doing this type of thing), but not enough to learn how to edit pictures, so if anyone out there is willing to change the text a bit, I will make another blog showcasing it as well as give you credit. Sorry, that's really the best I can do...

www.mediafire.com/konami

Here's a description of what www.mediafire.com/konami is: I created this collection because I had worked on and collected a significant enough amount of Konata x Kagami doujin that I felt justified in creating a small collection of translated KonaKaga works. As time went on, I started to add more and more, and found that it may be beneficial to share untranslated works as well, causing me to created a subfolder.

For those who actually followed this collection, you may notice a recent addition of a "Eunos" folder in which I put the translated works by Eunos, a regular author of the KonaKaga genre. I will probably begin to do this for other series as well as they begin to amass, but oneshots will always remain in the general section. Remember that there is more than one page, so don't miss out from lack of observation.

"NSFW" at the end of a title stands for "not safe for work" and denotes pieces which contain nudity. Borderline pieces (I'm thinking of Twin Coronet at the moment) contain no actual nudity, but come very close; however, I do not include them in the NSFW category. When I add things, I will post a short blog about it and will note if it is close to NSFW, but the ones that stand currently you will just have to take the risk (there aren't too many).

The two "Konami misc" are just single pictures or very short stories collected into a single folder. As you can see, the SFW folder may need to be split into two soon while the NSFW one is still quite tiny. If someone can help me rectify this, that would be pretty helpful. When I update those folders, I'll make a blog post as well as change the dates mentioned as to when it's been uploaded.

The "Webcomic" is a comic on the web that is updated time-to-time and is translated over at raki-suta.com/img. There are several arcs, and it appears one has just ended, so expect an update to that soon.

I have been asked before to feature other Lucky Star doujin in this collection, but I have been reluctant to do so. As implied by the name, this is a place for KonaKaga goodness, and I feel it would be in breach of that name to include others. On the other hand, now that I have a general blog that is not dedicated solely to KonaKaga, I will be including all forms of yuri Lucky Star here on this blog.

In the beginning...

I thought I might as well start up a blog for my personal collection I've stored up as well as nifty works I've found along my travels across the almost barren wastes known as the "Internet". This is here to give updates as to what I'm doing on the www.mediafire.com/konami collection as well as point out the non-KonaKaga items I've found most interesting, but I see not gaining much/any attention. If people happen along who are able to translate and/or edit, then maybe this can turn into another small scanlating group, but I'd be happy with it staying as a reference for the many other good works going on. This is a place to mostly give credit to the people behind the types of scanlations I am most likely to share who would otherwise go unmentioned.

If you would like to be mentioned on my blog, shoot me an e-mail at shynaku222 at aol.com. Please note I check e-mails about once a week, so don't expect an immediate reply. If you would like to be mentioned, but I see you are profiting from your work, I will not associate with you. I feel scanlating should be a free service given to the community; if the original artist will not monetarily gain from this service, then you have no right to either.
